Overview
Agha Shahid Majeed Khan, Advocate of the High Court, is the Managing Partner & Head of Chambers of Agha Shahid Law Associates. He is an accomplished and competent lawyer having vast experience of dealing in the Public Sector.
He has a successful track record of representing and defending the Provincial and Federal Government Departments before various High Courts and is fully conversant with the court procedures and aware of the practices at the Bar. He has performed Quasi-Judicial functions at various positions including Deputy Collector Customs (Law/Adjudication), Additional Collector Customs (Law/Adjudication) and Collector Customs (Adjudication) and also served as Secretary Judicial in the FBR.
Mr. Agha Shahid retired as Member (Technical) Customs Appellate Tribunal and has authored more than 100 judgments. He is currently a member for Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) panel of the FBR. ADR is a system whereby the taxpayer can refer the contentious issues for consideration and recommendations of the independent experts on the subjects of Income Tax, Sales Tax, Customs and Federal Excise Duty (FED) and make an out of court settlement with the tax authorities in the light of such recommendations.
He is providing consultation to the leading multinational companies in FMCG, Oil Exploration and Production, Pharmaceutical and Shipping/Container handling Sectors. He is also on the panel of the Sindh Revenue Board.
He specializes in and has predominantly been involved in providing Customs, Federal and Provincial Sales Tax, National Tariff Commission, Engineering Development Board and Import/Export Policy issues.
Mr. Agha Shahid has attended several international training sessions/seminars including, GATT code of Valuation at Shanghai, China, GATT Code of Valuation at Male, Maldives, World Customs Organization (WCO) Training on Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System (HS System) in Tokyo, Japan and BASEL Convention. .He also attended Train the Tainer Workshop on Strategic Trade Control Enforcement at WCO Headquarters at Brussels, Belgium and is an Accredited Instructor by the World Customs Organization on Strategic Trade Control Enforcement (STCE) for dangerous goods. He was also awarded British Council Scholarship for studying Master of Commerce in UK.
